Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: Vernon is no clown

John Turpin opines:

Andy, ...Vernon was the first 5th district winner. He even won the second primary in Stokes County. Vernon ask the questions and comments that the general public signifies with. This is one reason I am against second primaries. Vernon has been a good conservative Republican. The only people that don't like him are Liberals or RINOs. They use the republican name to get elected and their power to further their own financial interest at the cost of the taxpayer. Anybody that fights the conservative agenda has a background of receiving benefits from the government.
