Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Vernon is no clown

Have you talked to even a few W/S residents about Mr. Robinson?

Why, yes I have. Probably more than you have. I've known Vernon for close to 15 years.

He's considered an class A clown by most.

Most of whom? The far left-wing Democrats with whom you probably keep company? No doubt. It's an underestimation they make of Vernon at their own peril. Remember, he won the Republican primary for NC 5 Congress. That means the majority of Republicans in this district do not consider Vernon a class A clown. In fact, Vernon has a state-wide following. I know people in Charlotte and Raleigh, serious people, who continuously prompt Vernon to run for state-wide office.

They don't have to deal with his grandstanding.

Vernon can be somewhat over-dramatic, but the people who characterize it as grandstanding are usually the ones most threatened by the issue he is promoting.

Sounds to me like you have some personal problems with Vernon.
