Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: RE: Republican Congressman Predicts Bush Impeachment

DP World announced yesterday (I think) their plan of selling these leases to these terminals to American companies, so I don't know what Paul is talking about here.

The article was actually published about two weeks ago. I just found the link on a blog yesterday.

This is paranoia by Paul... We're not heading into a dictatorship.

How can you be so sure? In any case, Paul is saying that we are getting close to heading into a dictatorship. A thin difference, but a difference all the same. Even you have to admit, Andy, that Bush's suspension of habeas corpus and his fast-and-loose interpretation of the Patriot Act is disturbing at least.

A dictatorship doesn't necessarily have to be led by a single person. A reasonable argument could be made that we already live under the dictatorship of the judicial oligarchy.
