Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Steve Fumes

Wow, Steve. Don't get yourself so worked up because I only had a bit of fun with what you spent your previous post insinuating. We all understand exactly what you mean!

Sure, I'm not an expert on homeschooling. I've never been homeschooled and have never really known any homeschooled kids. (But there's lots of types of people I don't know, right?) But judging from how many of today's parents actually get personally involved with their children's activities — seems to be less than I can ever recall — maybe mandatory homeschooling could act as an optional birth control for these parents unfit (or uninterested) in doing their jobs.
