Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Model Democrats

Is Dean trying to warm up Democrats to the idea of an '08 Gore run for president or VP?

It's more like wishful thinking on Dean's part. As far as I can tell, Dean is rushing toward irrelevance at a breakneck pace. He may even pass Algore on his way to that destination. We all know who the anointed one is for the Party of Asses' 2008 presidential nominee.

Isn't the party tired of nominating losers?

I expect the rank-and-file are very tired of it. That's why Her Majestic Self of the Thick Ankles will be the nominee. There is no viable contender from either faction of the Republicrat Party who has any reasonable chance at stopping her.
