Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

RE: RE: Model Democrats

Cheer up, my friend... Here's my prediction: Hillary Clinton will NOT be the Democratic nominee in '08. The reason being is that I don't see her winning 270 electoral votes in a general election and the rank-and-file Democrats don't either.

Yep, I'm with you, Andy. To put it plainly, most Americans just don't like her very much. I think it would be nearly impossible for her to win a presidential election, at least based on the vibe that's out there right now. Who knows — she could pull off a major makeover in two years...

But as far as 'cheering up' is concerned, if the only other potential prexy Dems can come up with is Gore, there's not a lot to be happy about. Lord knows they should be able to do better than that. In turn, Republicans shouldn't be any happier — a bad Dem contender means less pressure on Repubs to get a better candidate than, say, McCain.

At this point, '08 looks pretty bleak. And that should piss off the whole nation, especially following a monumental flop like Dubya.

The federal government needs a 'new blood' transfusion.
