Bully Pulpit

The term "bully pulpit" stems from President Theodore Roosevelt's reference to the White House as a "bully pulpit," meaning a terrific platform from which to persuasively advocate an agenda. Roosevelt often used the word "bully" as an adjective meaning superb/wonderful. The Bully Pulpit features news, reasoned discourse, opinion and some humor.

Update: Police find van of woman found dead

Police found the van belonging to a 26-year-old woman whose body was discovered Wednesday by her mother in the New Irving Park home they shared, police said this morning.

The 1996 Mercury van was found in the Church Street area, according to a Greensboro police press release issued Thursday.

At 3:35 p.m. Wednesday, the mother, whom neighbors and public records identified as Lois Bailey, returned from several days out of town to the house at 309 Willoughby Blvd.

She found her daughter, Regan Bailey, unresponsive and her car missing, Capt. J.L. Rogers said.

The mother called 911. When emergency officials arrived, they confirmed her daughter was dead.

This happened not far from my apartment in Greensboro. I'm guessing it was a boyfriend Mom and Dad didn't know about. Then again, this part of Willoughby is not that far from some rough neighborhoods.
