Several Injured by Falling Ice at Super Bowl Stadium
(By Meredith Jessup, The Blaze) - On Sunday, thousands of football fans will take their seats at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas — home of Super Bowl XLV. But before kickoff, there’s a lot of work to be done to make the arena safe for spectators after freezing temperatures, ice and as many as 6 inches of snow hit northern Texas early Friday morning.
In the latest weather-related report out of Dallas, ice tumbling from atop the stadium has injured at least five bystanders who were all transported to area hospitals.
Specific injuries have not been identified, and it was not immediately clear how the accident happened. But video from Fox affiliate KDFW shows how heavy snow and ice built up on the stadium’s exterior pose a significant danger for people on the ground:
