ACLU Calls on US Attorney General Eric Holder to Prosecute George W. Bush

ACLU Calls For Investigation Of Bush Following Waterboard Claims

(By Justin Duckham, Talk Media News) -
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is asking the Justice Department to investigate George W. Bush following the former President’s admission that he authorized waterboarding.

The ACLU acknowledges the significance of this request, but it bears emphasis that the former President’s acknowledgement that he authorized torture is absolutely without parallel in American history,” the ACLU said in a letter sent to Attorney General Eric Holder. “The admission cannot be ignored. In our system, no one is above the law or beyond its reach, not even a former president.”

The request follows calls for investigation and possible prosecution from the human rights watchdog Amnesty International.

In Bush’s new book “Decision Points,” the former President says that he authorized the controversial interrogation tactic after it was cleared by the White House’s legal team.
